ITANAGAR, Jan 13: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has conveyed sincere greetings and felicitations to people of Arunachal Pradesh on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti and Magh Bihu.

PPA calls for all-

Umbrey further said the repeated bank robberies in the state and the recent looting of a trader at gun point proves beyond doubt that the miscreants and goons in the state have no fear for the law enforcing authority. He said innocent citizens have practically lost faith in the govt. The chief minister should immediately convene an all party meeting on law and order issue so that a common action plan could be worked out to regain and restore the public confidence, Laeta added.
Free health camp conducted
ITANAGAR, Jan 13: The All Limeking Youth Welfare Association (ALYWA) in collaboration with District Hospital, Daporijo, conducted a free medical cum vaccination camp at Limeking under Upper Subansiri district on December 27 last.
A team of medical experts from PHC, Limeking examined more than 500 villagers from Ngoju, Bogum, Nava, Nilo, Serava, Orak and Ketenallah. Diseases like malaria, typhoid etc were detected during the daylong health camp.

Training on court procedure gets underway
ITANAGAR, Jan 13: A week long training programme on Court Procedure for EAC’s and CO serving under various district administrations got under way at Administrative Training Institute Naharlagun. It is being conducted under 100 percent course fee sponsorship of department of Personnel and Training government of India. As many as 20 twenty APCS officers in the rank of EACs/COs are taking part in the programme.

Ekalavya Model Residential School at Bana crying for attention

BANA (East Kameng), Jan 13: In four years, the first batch of this school today is
in Class 10. The irony is -
The Ekalavya Model Residential School – shortly known as EMRS – started its academic session on 10th August 2009 with 54 students in Class 6. The students were selected from various districts of Arunachal Pradesh based on a competitive examination. However, preference was always there for local students which was met with a loud cheer from local residents of Bana in particular and the entire East Kameng, a district way down in the literacy chart, in general. The cheer though ended abruptly.
Since the first batch of 2009, no new admission has been made till date making the 53 students (one deciding to leave midway), who will be facing their first Board examinations this year, the only batch and also the only class of the school.
Reason is as simple as that: No adequate teaching and non-
The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs, under Article 275 (1) had decided to sanction 100 residential schools (EMRS) in the country during the 9th Five Year Plan. Two were sanctioned for Arunachal Pradesh – one at Bana and the other at Lumla in Tawang district. The two schools were registered under a registered society called ‘Arunachal Pradesh Residential and Education Educational Institution Welfare Society’. A state level committee was formed to oversee its management, which decided to handover the schools to committed NGOs working in the state. On May 29, 2009, the State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas, Arunachal Pradesh Trust to run the EMRS at Bana.
Within 2 months the VKV (a synonym of quality education in Arunachal Pradesh) took over the school and started the academic session at Bana with the infrastructure established by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The trouble began from day one.
“Because of the love of the children and their extreme zest to pursue quality education, we are still around. We just cannot leave them half way and run away,” says Omanakuttan V, Principal, who joined EMRS in 2011. His predecessor had moved on to oversee a similar project of the VKV in the Andamans.

The sudden visit of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki to the school on January 11 last, a day before the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, has brought some ray of hope for the EMRS. Listening to the problems of the school including the salary issue, Tuki expressed surprise that these were not resolved for so many years.
Getting to know that there were hiccups in release of the salary component by the Government, Tuki promised that he would find a way out and resolve it immediately. He assured that sufficient amount would be placed as a corpus fund or a grant so that the salary component of the school is met from it. He also advised the school management to take new admissions from next academic session and offered all possible assistance from the government.

The rally flagged off by Boken Ete, the pioneer in establishment of R K Mission School Aalo, started from Charali Boken Residence Point and culminated at Donyi Polo Dere where a meeting was held to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda as a National Youth Day at Gumin Kiin. PASIGHAT, Jan 13: Tekang village near Pasighat has celebrated its centenary with a look back through the last hundred years. The villagers paid homage to their ancestors, who had put forward the community to the present state of civilization.
Speaking at inaugural function, Education Minister Bosiram Siram urged the villagers to maintain the unity and integrity shown by their forefathers. According to him, “retrospection” of their ancestral contributions is the need of hour. Siram urged the villagers to follow the path shown by them work for development of the community.
The minister, who started his political career from Tekang village as ASM (panchayat), said that the plain cropland and hilly areas possessed by the local people are full of natural resources and the people can harness the enormous scope for horticultural activity for their economic gain.
Speaking about educational scenario of the area, Siram suggested the youngsters to draw inspiration from their elders, who have achieved success in life. Opposing discrimination against girl child the minister emphasized on compulsory education for all girl child.

The villagers of Tekang village had migrated from Kangku hill located at present Yagrung village outskirt. The villagers led by late Talong Siram dwelt there for a period of three decades and later landed down to settle at ‘Miku Kumting’ in 1943.
After they had sojourned some decades there, again moved to eastern direction and
settled their habitat at present location in 1960. The villagers subsequently fragmented

TAWANG, Jan 13: Keeping an eye on the Health Sector in the district, the Deputy Commissioner Tawang Abhishek Dev held a meeting at his official chamber on January 10 last with the officials, doctors and staffs of the District Health Society (DHS) to review the various reports and programmes pertaining to the health sector in the district.
Addressing the officials, the DC called upon the health department to work with utmost sincerity and dedication. Informing the importance of the Health Management System, the DC urged the DMO Tawang to prepare a monthly roster of Medical Officers to be on duty in the interior villages. Calling upon the Circle Officers to be very active in the grassroot level to monitor the health scenario in the Villages/PHCs/CHCs, he directed the DMO Tawang to seek monthly health reports from the Circle Officers of the district.
ZPC Tawang Jambey Tsering, in his speech, appreciated the Health Society Tawang for their continuous selfless service to the people of the district. Mentioning that the nearest referral point for further treatment of patients is located at Tezpur (which is 350 kms from Tawang), he requested the health department to work with full dedication and sincerely for the welfare of the general public.

The Yangfo Football Club dominated throughout the game but missed many times and couldn’t convert the chances into goal.
In the 40th minutes of the game, Tachak Sono committed handball and gave a penalty
kick which was converted into goal by Atum Bagang of Teacher-
Speaking on the occasion, NCP vice chairman L K Yangfo advised the people to earn the livelihood by hard work. He also urged the parents to advise their children in right directives to become a good citizen of the country in future.
Kata Rangmo, DDSE called on the people to pass a message to each and every student of East Kameng district that from this year around, no unfair practices shall be allowed in the CBSE as per resolution adopted by EKSWCO & AEKSU.
Robin Hissang, Principal Govt. College, Seppa said that the motto of the tournament was to make the people realize the importance of teachers in the society.

Constituency level CM’s Trophy tourney held
ITANAGAR, Jan 13: Tezu constituency level football and volleyball tournaments for CM’s Trophy for both men’s and women concluded at Govt. Hr. Sec. School playground, Tezu on January 11 last.
The football competition for both men and women’s were won by Tafragram defeating United Loiliang.
While Tafragam men’s team beat United Loiliang 5-
The men’s volleyball tournament was won by Telluliang defeating Tamlanagar while women’s volleyball tournament was won by Tafragam defeating Telluliang.
Rojimso Danjhi and Bagenlu Kathak were adjudged best men and women footballers while Rokenso Manyu and Jesmin Doo were chosen as best men and women volleyball players.
The winners, runners up and best players were awarded certificates, medals and cash prizes.
The closing ceremony was attended by Block Congress Committee president Ripso Yun and Youth Congress Committee, Tezu assembly constituency Sinaso Krowa, president.

Rewind your past life
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I want to urge govt. officers of our state to rewind their past life. It is a fact that most of present officers use to live miserable life once upon a time. They also visited door to door of every department in search of job. They have gone through a lot of hardships and troubles in the past.
By god grace, they have good position in the state government at present. They are living a luxury life, owns SUV cars, bungalows, multi storey buildings etc. Now it seems that they have forgotten their past life as they are rejecting genuine candidates and appointing illiterate and bad mouthed people recommended by politicians.
There are many talented job seekers roaming here and there looking for job opportunity. They are highly qualified, most of them are M.A, M.SC, MBA etc degree holders. They are assets of our state and the government should use these assets in developmental activities.
But it is not happening in our state because of favouritism and discrimination. Hence I request all the head of departments to rewind their past hardship life and then take their decisions rationally.

That’s not development
Dear Editor,
In today’s edition, a news item was carried informing that Chief Minister has flagged off six Scorpios for Zilla Parishad Chairpersons (ZPC). We do not see this as anything related to the development of state. This is just a vote buy policy of government at the cost of state exchequer. Teachers of schools are crying for salary, schools are waiting for better infrastructure, medical needs more doctors and better facility and rural Arunachal Pradesh is crying for better life but our government has no policy for all these issues. Only to make his six CHAMCHAS happy, he is spending lakhs of rupees.
As per recent Supreme Court verdict only a constitutional head can use red beacons which means ZPC’s cannot use red beacons. But our government has no fear for all this law and policies.

Gyawe Purang circle is yet to be connected with road

Gyawe Purang, as the name itself defines is enchanted with spring flower tree (Gyawe
in local language). It is a beautiful place situated in the heart of two villages
viz-
The said circle and it’s headquarter was created a decade ago with few General Administrative
buildings and 2 (two) Inspection Bungalows of PWD and RWD (one is now missing from
where it was erected), god knows where it went missing. However, all those buildings
are now in dilapidated condition. Every one may think, how is it possible that in
the short span of 10 (Ten) years building got damaged so badly and what is the reason
behind it? The big reason, I will tell you are the non-
This is happening since many years but the common people (aam aadmi) of the said circle are always keeping mum. It seems they are all easy going people and do not even bother to know the reason behind it. As a consequence, I do not hesitate to say that our circle will become skeleton circle, i.e, a circle without staffs and without development since its creation especially in the field of communication .In this regards, I opine that road connectivity to the circle headquarter from district headquarter is the top and vital agenda. Since, many years we have been hearing from reliable person that the road to said circle is in top priority list under NLCPR scheme. But in every financial year it never gets materializes. I have witnessed in recent years that huge number of link road of same scheme and PMGSY has given road connection to many other villages. But the circle headquarter of more than eleven villages are still crawling for such developmental work. Now the question is to whom should we blame? Is it the concern authority/ MLA of our constituency or the state government or we the people??? The common people need to know the reason and further they should not hesitate to demand for road connectivity to Gyawe Purang.

Rampant misuse of public money
At a time when country along with state is going through the worst financial crisis, much to the discomfort of ordinary citizen Chief Minister Nabam Tuki yesterday flagged off six Scorpio vehicles for the Zilla Parishad Chairpersons (ZPCs). It is claimed that these vehicles were provided for effective functioning of these leaders. The ZPCs who received the vehicles in the first phase were from districts like West Siang, Longding, Anjaw, Lower Dibang Valley, Changlang and Lohit. It is astonishing to see such rampant misuse of state exchequer like this.
The state government should know that ordinary citizens are suffering a lot due to paucity of fund. Many important developmental projects like civil secretariat, state assembly building and other major projects are not being able to complete on time due to lack of fund. How can state government waste public money for the luxury of six ZPCs? What is the need of providing such expense SUVs to them and how it will benefit public? The state government has to answer to the public. They just cannot close their ear and eyes.
